| Recent Works
Here is what Joey has to say about some
of her recent work:
The art of Gustav Klimt ( painter of "The
Kiss") is one of my favorites. His use of gold leaf and intricate detail
create paintings that glimmer like jewels. "Enchanted Forest", "Roses", "Mendo
The Cat" and "The Spirit" show his influence and in addition to the gold
paint I've added tiny crystals for more glitter. These paintings are
primarily decorative with no deep hidden meanings. They are meant to
embellish ones surroundings as would a sparkling cut glass vase or a
beautiful oriental rug.
Another, and totally different direction for my work is to add not only
glitter but also fun. Probably my greatest goal as an artist is to create
artistic pieces that appeal to one's sense of humor . An example of this is
"Zebras in a Mexican Restaurant" (seen under other works) and "The Babes"
series. The "Shrimp Cocktails" is a pen and ink drawing and predecessor to
another acrylic painting I haven't finished called "The Shrimp Cocktail
Party". A daily dose of humor is something we all need in our lives,
especially during the stressful times our country is experiencing these
days. |
